In these roles, you will provide advice and information on planning issues to a variety of stakeholders, including landowners, developers, Shire officers, ratepayers and residents. You will also ensure that professional standards are maintained and statutory compliance is achieved in the delivery of relevant planning schemes, policies and legislation.

Reporting to the CEO, the Director Place and Community provides strategic leadership for how the Shire plans, shapes and activates places and supports communities.
The role is accountable for aligning planning, regulation and community services to deliver integrated, place-based outcomes that improve the lived experience of residents and visitors.
The Director leads the definition of place intent, community needs and service outcomes, working in partnership with Built and Natural Environment, which is responsible for delivering built assets and infrastructure. The role remains closely involved through project governance to ensure facilities are fit for purpose and ready for successful activation.
As a key member of the Executive Team, the Director works with Council, builds strong external relationships and continues the transformation of the Directorate, driving efficient, customer-focused and community-centred services.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic and community-focused leader, experienced in planning, place, community or a related field, with the ability to bring together multiple functions to deliver practical, integrated outcomes.
You will be a strong communicator and collaborative leader, comfortable providing advice to Council and working across organisational and stakeholder boundaries to influence outcomes.
Experience operating in complex environments and balancing community expectations, regulatory responsibilities and service performance will be important.
A track record in leading change, improving services or delivering initiatives that have a positive impact on communities will be highly regarded.
Street Tree Pruner

Shire of Mundaring is seeking an experienced Street Tree Pruner to join our Parks Operations team. In this role, you will deliver safe and efficient street tree pruning services across the Shire, ensuring works are completed in line with safety requirements, scheduling and record-keeping standards.
You will also support broader arboriculture and environmental operations, contributing to the upkeep of our natural environment.
Key Responsibilities
• undertake street tree pruning, including work near or under powerlines
• assist with tree maintenance in parks and reserves
• support tree planting and environmental operations
• operate plant, equipment and vehicles safely and in accordance with procedures
• maintain accurate records and complete daily timesheets
• deliver high standards of customer service and respond to service requests
• follow all Work Health and Safety requirements and demonstrate safe work practices at all times.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• experience in arboricultural operations, including working near live powerlines
• strong knowledge of tree species and pruning practices
• the ability to work independently and as part of a small team
• good communication and organisational skills
• a strong commitment to safety and risk management practices.
Requirements
• chainsaw operation certifications
• Construction Safety Awareness Training (White Card)
• current WA “MR” Class Driver’s Licence
• relevant qualification in arboriculture and Certificate II in ESI – Powerline Vegetation Control is desirable
• availability for after-hours emergency callouts.
