As a Governance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the development and implementation of the Shire’s governance and risk systems. You will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, the Shire’s Governance Framework, and Risk policies.
Key Responsibilities:
• provide governance support and advice to the CEO, Council, Executive Leadership Team, and staff on legislative matters, local laws, policies, and procedures.
• support, monitor, and improve the Shire’s governance framework, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
• manage and review statutory registers, internal governance registers, and the corporate compliance calendar.
• support and oversee continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring measurable outcomes and alignment with organisational priorities.
• assist with the conduct of local government elections.
• manage and review the Shire’s policies and procedures.
• assist in the coordination of the internal audit program and implement audit findings.

You will manage, implement, and administer companion animal, emergency management, and general community safety-related programs, driving continuous business improvement to ensure the highest level of service and advice is provided.
Key Responsibilities:
• develop, implement, and manage community safety services and programs
• develop, implement, and manage comprehensive emergency management plans and programs, ensuring our community is ready for a range of potential disasters
• conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and coordinate emergency response training and exercises
• foster strong relationships with community groups, emergency services, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and preparedness
• lead and coordinate emergency response efforts during critical incidents, ensuring effective communication and resource allocation

We are seeking a self-motivated, versatile person with experience in civil works to join our construction team.
To be successful, you will have sound knowledge and experience in the construction of roads and stormwater drainage and will be able to interpret construction plans and provide team leadership to complete capital works and maintenance tasks.
You will be experienced in the operation of a range of plant and equipment and undertake a range of other general labouring duties such as rock pitching, and minor concreting.
