Library Services Technician
About the Job
An opportunity exists for a highly organised and innovative person to join the library services team.
We are looking for a dynamic person, who has both IT and library services skills, to work across the Shire’s library services at both the Mundaring and Boya locations.
In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the Library Management System, online catalogue, RFID and other related equipment ensuring accessibility, continuity and relevance of service to the community as well as testing software enhancements, upgrades and developments.
This role requires excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) with staff at all levels, as well as government agencies, vendors, suppliers, stakeholders and the community.
Candidates should possess a sound understanding of public library services.
Selection Criteria
Tell us about your experience working with library management systems, including any specific systems you have used in the past? Additionally, can you discuss your understanding of digital technologies such as hardware, software, and online applications, as well as your proficiency with web technologies and web-programming?
Describe your experience assisting staff and the public with technology-related issues, and your understanding of Marc records and the need for proficiency with HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, and JavaScript in library operations?
Provide an example of how you have effectively built rapport and engaged with others to achieve a common goal? What actions did you take to develop and maintain relationships with team members, and how did this collaboration contribute to the desired outcome?
Tell us about a time when you had to manage multiple tasks at once? How did you prioritise your workload?
