Are you passionate about delivering high quality library services, supporting community learning, and leading a customer-focussed team? The Shire of Mundaring is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Senior Library Officer to join our Library Services team on a fixed term contract for 12 months, commencing April 2026.

As a Senior Library Officer, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring the efficient day-to-day operation of Shire of Mundaring Libraries. Reporting to the Coordinator Library Services, you will support staff and volunteers, deliver excellent customer service, and contribute to the development and continuous improvement of library programs, systems, and processes.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• supervise, guide, and support Library Officers, casual staff, and volunteers
• coordinate induction, training, and daily workflows to ensure service continuity
• assist with cataloguing tasks in collaboration with the Librarian Acquisitions
• provide excellent customer service and maintain a welcoming library environment
• build and maintain relationships with community groups and stakeholders
• ensure accurate completion of tasks that support high quality resources and services
• assist in developing and reviewing library policies and procedures
• contribute to service improvements, process mapping, and organisational initiatives
• collaborate with the senior library team across the whole service.

What you will bring:
• strong people management, communication and customer service skills
• library experience (minimum two years)
• solid IT skills and knowledge of library systems (preferably Spydus)
• diploma in Information and Library Services (or working towards), or equivalent relevant experience
• current WA driver’s licence and National Police Clearance
• knowledge of cataloguing standards (MARC, RDA) is desirable.

Selection Criteria

  • Please include a covering letter of no more than two pages, explaining your interest in the position and a current resume detailing your qualifications, experience and attributes for the position.

  • Demonstrate your experience supervising and supporting staff or volunteers in a library or similar customer focused environment.

  • Provide examples of your high-level customer service and communication skills, particularly in a public facing library or community service setting.

  • Describe your experience using library management systems (e.g., Spydus or similar), along with your ability to troubleshoot information technology issues.

  • Demonstrate your understanding of cataloguing principles (e.g., MARC, RDA) and your experience contributing to collection maintenance.
