About the Job


Are you a dynamic and proactive leader dedicated to enhancing community safety and strengthening emergency preparedness? The Shire of Mundaring is seeking a highly motivated Manager to lead our Community Safety and Emergency Management team.

In this crucial role, you will play a key part in developing, implementing, and reviewing the Shire’s Community Safety and Emergency Management framework to enhance community resilience and ensure statutory obligations are met. You will manage, implement, and administer companion animal, emergency management, and general community safety-related programs, driving continuous business improvement to ensure the highest level of service and advice is provided.

Key Responsibilities:
• develop, implement, and manage community safety services and programs
• develop, implement, and manage comprehensive emergency management plans and programs, ensuring our community is ready for a range of potential disasters
• conduct risk assessments, develop mitigation strategies, and coordinate emergency response training and exercises
• foster strong relationships with community groups, emergency services, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and preparedness
• lead and coordinate emergency response efforts during critical incidents, ensuring effective communication and resource allocation
• evaluate and improve existing emergency management plans and procedures, staying up to date with best practices and emerging threats.

• a proven track record in emergency management and preparedness
• strong understanding of relevant legislation and regulations
• excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• the ability to work effectively under pressure and in dynamic environments
• a passion for community safety.

In recognition of the commitment, knowledge and skills, experience and leadership you will bring, we will negotiate a remuneration package up to $195,000. This will include salary, superannuation, motor vehicle allowance, professional development and telecommunications provisions as well as a range of benefits including 5 weeks annual leave, free parking and pool entry and complimentary wellness initiatives including skin cancer screening, annual flu vaccinations and ergonomic assessments.
